I’m struck by the urgency with which some suggest Australia must send doctors to deal with the Ebola threat in West Africa. What is it about Australian doctors that makes them indispensable? Can’t doctors from other countries handle the threat as competently (or even more so) than those from Australia?

Perhaps those countries not sending their airmen and soldiers to fight against IS in Iraq should send their doctors to West Africa in a sort of Karmic international transfer.

The whole issue seems to be one of unhealthily trading on a level of hysteria surrounding this disease for political gain. Not nice.

Especially as there appears to be little reason for hysteria, as this video shows.

  1. Hi Graham and yes you could be right.
We should be sending help; and a chopper carrying navel vessel, to evacuate our own wherever necessary.
Many years ago, nearly half a century, I studied medicine; majoring in trauma management and tropical diseases.
One of the things I learnt was, that tropical ulcers were incurable; and or, could only be cured by a prolonged periods in a hyperbaric chamber and in a pure compressed 100% oxygen environment.
Hyperbaric chambers can be built of bought off the shelf as virtual coffin sized see through containers, and a perfect, [preferred easily managed for temperate control, humidity and the like,] sterile environment to transfer or nurse infected patients in. As opposed to blown up, see through bags, worn by Doctors and nurses; the second best option.
When we crawled from the primordial slime, the earth’s atmosphere was around a reported 51%; now that number is down to 20%!
And with that reduction the emergence of many hitherto unknown and deadly pathogens!
Many nations still sterilize their drinking water with compressed and suddenly released underwater, oxygen; possibly augmented by UV treatment.
Totally oxygenated water turns milky white.
I also believe steam cleaning of all wards; boiled bedding and the like, is superior to many chemicals, except say pure bleach or salt saturated vinegar!
All of which are still usually affordable, even in so called impoverished countries!
Most viruses, including most Ebola strains can live outside the human host for just seconds!
I also believe therefore, it’s probably good practice to have patients wear mandatory surgical masks, when nursed in dormitory like facilities.
[Which probably describes most west African hospitals.]
And because a sneeze can leave the nostril at speeds well in excess of a 100 miles an hour, and project droplets (body fluid) for up to 15 metres!?
I also have a problem with decontamination procedures, where a hand held spray administers some disinfectant, on the nurses and other fully gowned up practitioners; and would prefer they are treated as we would in radiation decontamination!
Radiation contamination being comparatively less deadly, and with a complete cattle dip type showering and from all sides, before any attempt is made to degown!
Which is the most likely cause of doctor and nurse cross contamination and or infection!?
I’d also want to administer injectable vitamin K, so as to lessen the ability of the patient to bleed to death, or faster than we can infuse blood products; best sourced from completely recovered patients. With or without their consent!
In any event, everybody serving humanity over there and still healthy; should nonetheless, be made/obliged to stay in quarantine, before returning to their Australian community.
We have now uninhabited Islands, that were once leprosy colonies; that would still serve as reasonable quarantine.
And where people could move around, swim, fish, play tennis and what have you; and other wise experience a relatively normal social life.
I would also want to include thermal imaging at all entry and exit points, and in said quarantine facilities!
We nurse premature babies in closed environment humidy cribs, to protect them from our germs!
Couldn’t we be just as pragmatic with Ebola victims?
If only to protect us from theirs!?
But particularly, in a ship hastily converted into offshore isolation hospital duties?

  2. Tell the USA they can clean up their own Ebola mess.

There is plenty of evidence that it has been weaponised and low and behold, another of their diseases has escaped from a lab.

  3. Evidence Ross evidence! Not patently biased conjecture!

  4. Alan, Prof Francis Boyle wrote the laws banning this practise in the USA and George Bush Senior signed off on them

They simply took their labs to Africa to weaponise disease. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BPpag5ik5M

The CDC has patents on Ebola. Prof Boyle says they have crossed Ebola with the common cold. He nick names it Cobola.

China, Russia ,USA and many other countries have been weaponising disease for many decades. The USA just made it an artform.

  5. Alan here is the other link where Prof Boyle says Ebola has been weaponised. http://www.infowars.com/bio-weapons-expert-ebola-outbreak-is-a-bio-weapon-release/

  6. Here’s another link Alan.Dr Paul Craig Roberts was the ex-assistant secetary to the US Treasury and known as the father of Reagonomics.

    Comment by Ross — November 3, 2014 @ 6:55 pm

  7. Yes Ross, and world wide, experts from all over, claimed credible evidence for WMD’s in Iraq!
I think we need just a little more than opinion pieces by former staffers and so on!
The father of Reaganomics has a lot to answer for.
He took a system that for every dollar of govt debt, created 2.4 dollars of growth; and changed it to one where every dollar of debt, now creates 0.03 cents worth of economic growth?
The difference, Keynesian economics puts money in the hands absolutely with no other choice than to spend it, making the money go round and round, doing constructive economic work in the process. If I eat out and decide to tip the waiter a dollar, the waiter uses it to pay a taxi instead of walking; the taxi driver uses it to buy gas, The service station owner uses it to buy parts etc, this in essence is how Keynesian economics (money go round) works?
Wheres, with Reaganomics, all the extra money created is placed in hands that already have everything they need, or bankers, who instead of lending it to create some economic activity, simply use it to pay down debt, or hoard it as a flat stacked bulwark against future downturns, or acquire assets? None of which increases discretionary spending, the very thing needed to stimulate any economy
Weaponised diseases are always a worry, as is the need by some US labs to retain some smallpox, ostensibly to use to create vaccines, should this also deadly killer disease ever again see the light of day?

  8. Alan, Paul Craig Roberts is not the same person he was 30 yrs ago,nor is Malcolm Fraser or I. Malcolm Fraser is one of the few ex pollies fighting this new form of Western fascism. PCR writes excellent articles which more than compensates for his past ignorance.

    Comment by Ross — November 4, 2014 @ 7:48 pm

  9. Alan, if you want to know why we have these new deadly viruses aimed at our humanity, look no further than the Nazi environmental movement who see too many humans as a blight on their planet.

Prof Francis Boyle says he fears for Africa as they have not the hygiene nor the medical facilities to cope with it.

This is a common theme from these environmental nutters who are too gutless to lead by example. They have weaponised Ebola and like all viruses,it will mutate into another form, making their vaccines impotent.

    Comment by Ross — November 4, 2014 @ 8:34 pm

  10. I love a good conspiracy theory Ross.
As always there’s always some super competent leader (perhaps a tree hugging nasty Nazi nut job) at the helm knowing exactly what he or she wants, and just how and with who, to get it!
With or without our help most viruses will mutate, that’s why we need something like oxygen super saturation to kill them.
Regardless of what strain or type the mutate to, viruses remain very vulnerable to compression chamber oxygen super saturation!
Or external decontamination with a (kill any known pathogen) thirty second burst of liquid nitrogen spray!
Just keeping the “hydrated” patient alive and able to manufacture his or her own antibodies within, is often the best way to treat almost any viral problem, regardless of what it can or does morph or mutate into. And blood transfusions from fully recovered patients and their viral specific antibodies must surely help!
I would like to include UV in all wards as well as part of the protection process; and as easy as changing the florescent tubes for UV specific ones!

  11. Alan read the biography of Prof Boyle.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Boyle
He is no intellectual light weight. This is not in the realm of theory but criminal intent.

A business associate of mine who is not aware of these criminals told me this story. His wife contracted Lymes Disease from a tick in Sydney. He had to send his wife to Germany for a cure. The Doctors there said this was a weaponised form of Lymes that had escaped from a laboratory.

So don’t give me the BS story of this being an incredulous conspiracy. There are many of our elites who openly say the planet’s population must be reduced by 90%.The environmental movement is their preferred medium of propaganda,to make us all feel guilty about existing.

    Comment by Ross — November 5, 2014 @ 6:28 pm

  12. Ross, you may well be right about the hidden agenda of many green groups, as long as the population reduction targets never include them?
As for German Doctors and their opinions, how on earth would they know a weaponized disease from any other natural variant, unless they’d been involved with its creation?
Simply being an expert in the field and certain that something is true doesn’t make it so, as shown by the lack of WMD’s in the butcher of Baghdad’s Iraq; even in the face of extreme certainty, by most of the west’s intell agencies!
Until you can provide root and branch credible evidence, as opposed to the opinions of some very clever people, your theories remain just that; however convincing they may well be!
We made one huge mistake going to war on the say so of some experts and their unproven claims!
It’s not something we should ever repeat!
As for the seeming calloused indifference of the greens in regard to whole populations of humans being exterminated by famine or pestulance?
That it seems, has always been their position, given the reduction in other, more important to them, species.
I mean, Dr brown was all gung ho and wanting to send our navy in to protect a few dozen whales, but like the rest of the greens seem strangely silent, on Ebola.
Perhaps if it were here and harming him/her and his or hers; there’d plenty demanding we throw absolutely everything including the kitchen sink at it!
Which is exactly what we should be doing now, and before it migrates here!
An almost absolute certainty, if not enough is done to contain and eradicate this disease for once and all time.
If the Yanks? are weaponizing it, don’t you think it’s time they shared it with Isil?
The problem with that very scenario Ross, is once you have released the deadly tiger, how can you possibly put it back in its box; before it destroys you also!?
You have a nice day now, y’hear.

  13. Alan why would the CDC and Bill Gates own patents on Ebola? They create the problem and sell us the vaccine solution. Do you think that organisations like Norton Anti- virus might create the need for their own existence?

    Comment by Ross — November 6, 2014 @ 7:10 pm

  14. Alan, see the other side of Bill Gates. Gates is a super elite who sees us peasants as being expendable.

    Comment by Ross — November 6, 2014 @ 7:27 pm

  15. Yes Ross, create a need to be needed, as opposed to creating a bona fide need; sounds very much like a protection racket to me, and the way you put it, perfectly plausible!?
However, if nobody can find any credible evidence, pray tell, what else can we do about it?
The last time we took to people on suspicion alone, people were stoned to death or burned at the stake, and just because of the pointing fickle finger of fate!
I would fain to do something about this problem and would even take on Bill Gates; given nobody is above the law!
However, in order to do that I need evidence that will stand up in court!
And to date all I’ve seen are powerful opinion and conjecture, not proof positive or evidence Ross!
If I were to go head to head with the rich and powerful; and I’m up for it, I’d need more than the opinions of lobbyists, extremely plausible conjecture and patently circumstantial evidence; none of which would stand up in any court and cost the plaintiff a veritable fortune!
Let just say, you may well be right and just leave it at that; given the lack of credible evidence effectively prevents anyone from actually doing anything about it.
For now, we just need to convince lackluster authorities to get off their behinds and into essential action, least we find ourselves treating extremely lethal Ebola right here?
In which case pollies of all color and description may well find themselves in the firing line, and possible perfect justice for the seeming reluctance to act, in a timely manner!?
Generally speaking I have a policy of only worrying about that which I have absolute control over, and given that is just the thoughts I care to entertain in my very own head, which in turn create all my attitudes; that sadly, is not very much.
Even so, I must remain positive, which alone enables me to treat others as I would be treated; hopefully, occasionally!?
And were I still a comparatively young and healthy man, in west Africa, and treating Ebola victims.
You have a nice day now y’hear.
